Today Spartan Games has released the statistics and renders for the Small Ships: You Decide Event. We would like to thank everyone for their participation. That made this event one of the best I have seen and that is because of the great community that has developed around Firestorm Armada!

New Small Ships: You Decide - Finalists
Spartan Games has chosen the finalists for their New Small Ships: You Decide event!
Our friends at Spartan have selected 4 entries per race from all of the specticaluar entries that were recieved. Now we need to get to work again!
I have posted 6 polls on our Facebook for voting. You are allowed to vote on one design per race. On each poll is a .pdf of the finalists for that race.
Voting will end Wednesday March 20th, 2013.

Updated! Player Made Ship Stat Cards
We already have some of the greatest minds in Firestorm Armada designing ships.
Although the curret call is for Small Ship Classes for some time the devoted fans of Firestorm have been manning the shipyards as sending out designs.

New Major Race Upgrades for Firestorm Armada: You Decide!
Spartan Games has asked the Firestorm Armada Community to help design new ships for an upcoming release:
"In response to demand from the Firestorm Armada Community, we would like to release a new small model for each of the 6 major races - Dindrenzi Federation, Terra Alliance, Aquan Prime, Sorylian Collective, The Directorate and The Relthoza."
The call goes out to all of us. What new small ships would you like to see? Any special classes, new Model Assigned Rules or different squadron sizes? Let's hear your ideas.
We have been given two weeks to come up with any and all ideas for new small ships for each of the six major races. During that time feel free to post your ideas in this thread or The Black Ocean's Facebook Page.
Your final submission should be sent to show@theblackocean.com by Friday March 8th. Please be sure to use the following forms:

Special considerations when making the new small ships:
Rules/MARS: Please note that these should be kept to a minimum. Please use rules and MARs from what already exists. New rules and MARs will only be considered in special cases.
Aesthetic: Please give an idea as to what you think the model should look like.
You may make one submission per race, and all your submissions must be placed in one e-mail. Submissions that do not use the above format will not be considered. The Black Ocean will collate all submissions and send them to Spartan Games.
This is our opportunity to influence the great game that we all love. So get thinking, get posting and then get your submissions in!

We made it to 2013, now there is some great news…
Hi all and welcome to 2013, the year we were all supposed to never see! But luckily for all of us the Mayans were wrong and that leaves us with a new year for Sci Fi Wargaming.
Along those lines let me tell you that exciting news is out from Spartan Games. They have released the Firestorm Armada Rules in a downloadable pdf. This new file contains all the errata and corrections so it's the most current version of the rules. This digital copy does not contain the background material, ship statistics and artwork that the Hardcover V2 Rulebook does.
What this means is that now it's easier than ever to get a friend or two into Firestorm Armada. Just download this file onto your computer, smartphone or iPad and have at it.

Merry Christmas to all of the Sci Fi War Gamers throughout the world.
This has been an outstanding year for us all and we will detail that out in the next few days. With everything that has happened in the world it is very nice to be part of such a great community. We just wanted to take a moment to say thank you, each and every one of you who has download our files, looked at our page or liked us on Facebook. We look forward to meeting some of you at the Adepticon in April.
I would also like to thank the companies who have made such wonderful games that we can all play, pick apart and obsess over.

We are on Vacation!
What a year it's been! There have been two major rulebooks for Firestorm Armada. Dropzone Commander has been released. There have been Stat Cards to redo, editing of Player Made Ships, Firestorm Invasion has landed. Website updates, tons of news on Facebook, pictures to take and upload, models to paint. X-wings Miniature Game has stormed our tabletops, planets and asteroids to build and two sets of Army Builder Data files to maintain.
What a great year! But we are only human after all so we are taking a real life vacation.
From November 1st through the 15th we will be lounging in a tropical paradise. Oh you know we will be coming up with new and interesting was to support this great Community whilst literally swimming with the fishes. So The Black Ocean may be a little quiet but it is only the calm before the storm.
Look for even more Sci Fi Wargaming in the coming months from us!
Army Builder Data Files for Star Wars X-wing Miniatures Game (Beta)
That really is a mouthful. But the title is not the important part. What you can do with these files are!
For those of you who don't know Fantasy Flight Games recently released the Star Wars X-wing Miniatures Game and here at The Black Ocean we have fallen in love with it. In this game we get to do what most boys I grew up with wanted to do. Pilot an X-wing!
To help with building lists with this great game we have created data files for use with Wolflair's Army Builder. With these files you easily can make lists for tournament or casual play. It can be used to make endless "what if" pairings and "how do these work together" squadrons. Once you have just what you want you can print them out with all stats and pictures, then just grab you miniatures and go!
The Black Ocean is committed to the X-Wing Miniatures Game. As new expansion packs come out we will be updating our Army Builder files.
